Of Cockroaches, Ants and Frogs on Termite Bait Stations

Since I started on experimenting on the proper placement and spacing of termite interceptors around a given perimeter and check on the results I used to see ants, earthworms, crickets, cockroaches and occasionally, frogs on an installed In ground termite interceptor.

When digging the earth to install these termite baits, I see to it that the soil is compacted thoroughly when the interceptors are in place. Surprisingly, these little creatures still find themselves onto the shelter of the embedded termite interceptor.  It is a known fact that termites will avoid the termite traps/interceptor/bait when there is "someone" already in there, especially ants of which is the mortal enemy of termites.

While it is supposed to intercept/attract termites, it seems it is the other way around. How did these creatures enter those interceptors?

  1. How they entered into the stations? Frog may be attracted by termites. Termites are sweet food to frogs. ;)

  2. but there are no termites on the In ground stations. Since the station has a big hole at the bottom, this might have been the entry of the frog from the soil

  3. Termite biating is a work for expert, for working as DIY basis. Good stations have no alternative, for the success of the operation. Thanks for the pictures.

  4. What ever in it, important issue is that those baits protect out house from those devils. Termite infestation is very dangerous for our wooden house and furniture. Proper baiting station is must for its effectiveness.

  5. It happens when the installer are not well trained. HOW CAN A FROG OR A COCKROACH OR A DINASOUR CAN ENTER THERE IF IT'S PROPERLY INSTALLED???? IT'S SADLY A LOT OF OPERATORS DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY USE THIS AMAZING DEVICE. ANYTHING CAN GO WRONG WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY USE SOMETHING.

  6. It is properly installed with lid covered and locked. The hole at the bottom serves as the entry point for these intruders. Once these guest are in would you expect termites to go inside? Of course, not!
